Tuesday - Psalm 136 - Thank You

F
OREVER is a long time. And, the message of this psalm is that we should all be deeply grateful that forever is just exactly how long God's mercy toward us is going to last.  10,000,000 years into eternity, our secure salvation will still be as absolute and sure as it was on the day Jesus saved us.  God is not going to renege on His promises to us... ever. There is 0% chance that we will ever lose what Christ purchased for us with His own blood.  Obviously, the phrase ''for His mercy endures forever" is in all 26 verses of this psalm for a reason.  The reality of His enduring mercy is truly the greatest reason why we should be thankful, and it is the underlying cause of all the great things that God has done for His people.  Consider this: the absolute uniqueness of God's actions, the incredible wisdom in His creativity, the supreme power of His arm, the incomprehensible compassion which He has exhibited toward His people and the unmerited generosity which He pours out so generally upon all of creation - the fact that we have seen these things from God proves to us that His mercy is everlasting and strong.  Say it with me, "Thank you, Lord!"
