Monday - Psalm 145 - Bless God Everyday... Forever & Ever

W
HEN God blesses us, we should smile gratefully. But how can we bless God?  As upside down as it may seem, we can bless God. Blessing God certainly is a way to "make God smile" so to speak. As we kneel before Him with adoring praise on our lips and with a sincere and loyal salute, God is pleased.  This psalm raises a question concerning the appropriate quantity and frequency of our praise. There are 2 designations that stand out to me: "every day" and ''for ever and ever'' (Psalm 145:2).

Why exactly should God be praised daily forever? The answer is in Psalm 145:3, "His greatness is unsearchable." If we pour out accolades in God's direction daily for the rest of our lives, could we exhaust God's worth? Could we ever finish the task?  Is it possible to ever praise God too much?  We can systematize His attributes, categorize His actions and analyze His characteristics, but there will always be more than can be said. There are surely more things to be said about God's greatness than we can ever find out.  It is the nature of infiniteness.  Besides, every new day brings new opportunities for God to do more things that merit our praise. His awesome power supersedes all, His unfathomable knowledge transcends all, His majestic glory eclipses all, His sovereign authority cancels all, His condescending compassion extends to all, His voluntary goodness affects all, His perfect holiness overshadows all and His generous grace is available to all, so it is fitting that all men should praise Him now and throughout eternity.  Let's get started today!
