FTER 15½ verses of Solomon uncontrollably gushing sweet
compliments as he viewed his spouse, she makes one simple and beautiful
statement to close the chapter, "Let
my beloved come into his garden, and eat his pleasant fruits." He had said just about everything that
could have been said to express how enraptured he was with her beauty. What was she to say? How was she to respond? Certainly, there was no coldness. There was neither hesitation nor
embarrassment. There was no aloofness;
not even a coy banter. She was happily
his. She invited her husband to come to
her; to take what was his. Surely you
understand that to hear her response to his advances, this man would have been
nearly numb with delight. She was
absolutely without inhibitions with him.
He was utterly enthralled with her, and she was thrilled by it.
Although it is proper to speak of the importance of a
receptive response, on our part, to the courtship which we perceive from our
kinsman Redeemer, it is also very proper to worship God as we pause in awe of
the fact the He loves us at all. Our
value is found in the fact that God loved us enough to send His only Son to
redeem us from our ugliness and to make us worthy royalty. Still, reciprocated love & trust is
exactly what God is seeking for in us.
Don't rob Him of this.
