F each chapter in the book of Proverbs presents a variety of
wise perspectives, this one must rank very near the top in the number of
different topics addressed. What can we
conclude from Proverbs 20?
Don't drink alcohol (Proverbs 20:1). Don't upset people who have authority over
you (Proverbs 20:2). Avoid disagreements
(Proverbs 20:3). Don't be lazy. Laziness brings poverty (Proverbs 20:4 &
13). Seek for knowledge and share it
when you have it. Sharable knowledge is
more valuable than riches (Proverbs 20:15). Be honest in all business dealings. God hates deception in business (Proverbs
20:10, 14 &23). Any time you can,
get advice from others (Proverbs 20:18). Don't attempt "paybacks" because
revenge is never right (Proverbs 20:22). Do your research before committing yourself to
a thing – not afterward. Ill informed decisions are most likely to be wrong
decisions (Proverbs 20:25). Allow your
conscience to speak on every issue. A
man's conscience is a useful tool in God's hand (Proverbs 20:27). Distribute and accept discipline readily. Discipline is healthy and helpful (Proverbs
20:30).
