here are several things that are noteworthy in this
discourse. First of all, notice that her
words are not hidden nor scribbled out secretly in the shadows, they are public
and commonly accessible. See also that
her address is aimed broadly to anyone and everyone. The more ignorant you and I are of her ways,
the more we need to listen. She speaks
simply, plainly and always holily. She
is never an opponent of God, no... she is always a willing servant to Him. She recognizes the infinite value of her
wares and she knows what (she would say "who") will have to accompany
her in order for her work to work (Proverbs 8:12). She loves the humble man, yet she has always
been welcomed in the most regal of courts.
She loves her pursuers, and she knows well that any who ignore her are doomed.
Of all of her claims, her most prestigious one
is recorded in Proverbs 8:30 concerning the relationship that
"Wisdom" had with the Creator when He was creating the worlds. She says that when He was busy on those 1st
6 days of creation, "Then I was by Him, as one brought up with Him: and I
was daily His delight, rejoicing always before Him..." In other words, God
and wisdom just go together. God without
wisdom wouldn't be God at all. As long
as He has been around... or should I just say "as long as He has
been" ... wisdom has been around too.
It's the natural state of the supernatural realm.
