E are all victims of a great conspiracy. Not that we aren't
guilty ourselves; we are! But, we have been taken captive by that wicked one,
Satan (2nd Timothy 2:26). Whether by the hand of Nimrod, Nero or
some other despotic zero, Satan has been accomplishing His own will on this
planet for many generations (Luke 4:6). It all started when Lucifer allowed his
own desires to supersede the desires of his Creator (1st John 3:8,
Luke 10:18, Isaiah 14:12-15 & Ezekiel 28). From that moment on, he has been
working to thwart God's plan on every hand. From the garden of Eden to the
hanging gardens of Babylon, if we will look with sanctified eyes, we can always
find the Devil prowling around looking for ways to tempt other created beings
to deviate from God's design (1st Peter 5:8).
Now, Satan is not creative, though he imagines himself to
be. He is a great plagiarizer. He is ever and always trying to copy and
counterfeit God Himself. God was sovereign; Lucifer wanted also to be
sovereign. God has great power and receives worship; so too Satan attempts the
same. God is the head and founder of a great city (Zion) which He desires to
populate with many true believers (Jn. 14:2, Heb. 11:10 & 16, Is. 14:32 &
Rev. 21:2); Satan has also constructed a gilded city which he is populating,
but with unbelievers, make-believers and those who believe the wrong things
(Genesis 11:4 & Isaiah 14:4).
When God sets out to bring the Devil down, it will be an
effortless endeavor on His part (Isaiah 14:24 & 27). This is because truly
Satan is not the opposite of God. To say that he is God's nemesis would be far
too flattering for him. The greatness of God and the paltry insignificance of
Satan's essence in contrast is just that, a contrast, because there is no
comparison. Satan had a beginning; God did not. God is omnipresent, omnipotent.
omniscient & infinite; Satan is not. God is His own source of power; Satan's
is just on loan.
