Friday - Isaiah 25 - The Effects of One Divine Stroke

W
ELCOME to the kingdom of God! While much of the information in this chapter is somewhat ambiguous, one thing is sure, this chapter describes a time in the future when God will have His way on the earth. There will be a time when God will be glorified by the strong and will be feared by great nations. His generous supply and sovereign authority will be everywhere apparent. Christ will gird Himself and feed us with sweet manna all around; with fine wine and the finest cuts of meat (Isaiah 25:6). On that day, His people will know Him face to face. Death will cease; tears will be gone; rebuke will be unnecessary; things will be very much different than they have been for generations (Isaiah 25:8). With one stroke of His proverbial arm, effortlessly God will end all resistance against Him (Isaiah 25:10-11). The greatest contraptions of His former opponents will be nothing more than dust under His feet in those days. And we?  We will rejoice (Isaiah 25:9).

In a sense, God has not really even thrown a punch yet in the great spiritual fight of the ages. He has backed up. He has taken hits. He has blocked many flurries of punches. He has leaned in with warning feints. He has flexed His muscles revealing tremendous strength. But, when He finally steps in with just one right hook! One stroke is all it will take. What a mighty God we serve!
