ELL now, how would you and I like to be called red maggots?
Even though I've never seen a red maggot, I get a distinct feeling that such a
designation is not meant to be complimentary. Yet, it is an accurate moniker
for us sinners. We are weak, small and insignificant. We are in a position of
great disadvantage. We owe God great fear because, as we saw in the last
chapter, our God is exceedingly great! The good news is that if we can arrive
at a proper perspective on God (that is, if we will fear Him), then all the
rest of our fears can be assuaged (Isaiah 41:13-14). He has promised to be the
redeemer of His people (Isaiah 41:11, 14 & John 1:11-12). Amazing
liberality is seen in His words (Isaiah
41:10). When we need help... when we cry
out for help, God is ready to answer. We can be assured that help is on the
way.
Our God is the one who can get things done. The so-called
gods of every other religion are imaginary. They are the projections of
perverted minds. They are inventions, not inventors. They are creations, not
creators. They are either manufactured super humans, or else degraded versions
of the one true God. Spiritual rescue is found in only one entity, and that
person is Jehovah (Acts 4:10-12, Isaiah 43:11, 45:21 & Hosea 13:4). There
is no sense in looking for help elsewhere. He is all we need (Psalm 124:8). Hallelujah!
