Saturday - Proverbs 29 - Who Are You Trying to Fool?

P
ROVERBS 29:26 teaches us one of the most important lessons in life.  Here is the verse, "Many seek the ruler's favor; but every man's judgment comes from the LORD."  Since God is the judge and we are all destined to stand or fall before Him some day, perhaps His opinion should become much more important to us than the frivolous approval of our fellow man, be he ever so influential or impressive.  So, what kinds of things are bound to get us into trouble with God?  Let's look at a few from this chapter.

Rebellion (Proverbs 29:1).  When we must be corrected over and again for the same thing, we should consider that our moment is eventually going to come.  Rebellion is despicable and offensive to God (I Samuel 15:23).

Corruption (Proverbs 29:4).  Its "dishonest exploitation of power for personal gain." Whether it is a father enslaving his children or a politician taking bribes, God is not pleased and so justice will have to prevail one way or another; either here or in eternity.

Anarchy (Proverbs 29:15). If there is anything that we can learn about God by studying His revelations from stem to stern, it is that He is a God of order.  Everything has a place, and everything is in its place.
