N Daniel 10:8, we read about the effect that this particular vision had
on the prophet. Perhaps Daniel didn't know it, but he was in the middle of a
tremendous battle. The princes of Persia & Greece (who are mentioned in
this chapter) must surely have been strong & influential demons. Gabriel &
Michael are archangels who were in a struggle with those demonic influences. See,
it wasn’t just the ambitions of great men which brought about the rise of
Persia & the eventual rise of Greece. God's agenda (& Satan's ignorant
participation in it) brought these empires into being. It is obvious that Satan
was opposed to seeing Daniel receive an answer to his prayers in relation to
his former visions (Daniel 10:12-13). But not surprisingly, God prevailed, &
Daniel did receive his answer. Daniel’s study
& understanding of the Scripture drove him to pray for more understanding, &
his desire was granted.
Lesson: a child of God who continues in ignorance has no spiritual
power & is therefore no threat against the forces of evil. But if we walk in the light as He is in the
light, we have fellowship with one another.
Fellowship around what? The truth
that God shares!
